The name “Flint Legacy” pays homage to the rugged Flint Hills—the rolling, flint-strewn landscape that defines much of eastern Kansas and remains one of the state’s premier big-game and upland hunting regions. It evokes the timeless strength and heritage of Kansas hunting traditions, symbolizing reliable performance across generations, endless possibility, and the relentless pursuit of excellence embodied in Kansas’s state motto: “Ad Astra per Aspera” (To the stars through difficulties). Every Flint Legacy rifle is hand-assembled in our Udall shop, blending proven engineering with genuine Kansas pride to create firearms that perform flawlessly in the field—whether you’re stalking whitetail in the Flint Hills, chasing mule deer across open plains, or pursuing elk in the Rockies.

Two Distinct Actions – Bison and Astra

At the heart of the Flint Legacy line are two carefully engineered actions, each designed to excel in different hunting scenarios:

• Flint Legacy Bison Rifle Named for Kansas’s official state animal—the American bison—this model is the reliable, hard-working foundation of the series. The Bison action is machined from pre-hardened chromoly steel for exceptional durability and value. It features a pinned recoil lug, Savage small-shank thread tenon (1-1/16″-20 TPI) with Origin-style prefit barrel compatibility, controlled round feed, enclosed mechanical ejector, spiral-fluted black nitride bolt body with DLC-coated bolt head, bayonet-style firing pin, and a Remington 700-style footprint for compatibility with a wide range of stocks and chassis. Available in short action (SA) and long action (LA) configurations, the Bison delivers smooth, dependable operation and tack-driving accuracy at a price that makes custom precision accessible to more hunters.
• Flint Legacy Astra Rifle Drawing inspiration from the “stars” in Kansas’s state motto, the Astra is the flagship action for shooters who demand the highest levels of refinement and performance. CNC-machined from premium 416 stainless steel with an integrated recoil lug, advanced finish options, and TL3-style prefit barrel compatibility, it provides superior alignment, tighter tolerances, ultra-smooth bolt cycling, and extensive customization possibilities—including multiple magazine cuts (AICS, AW, single-shot, extended), varied bolt knobs (competition, diamond, helical, tactical), tang styles, rail MOA choices (0/20/30/40), and ejection port configurations. Offered in short (SA), medium (MA), and long (LA) lengths with optimized feed geometry, the Astra is built for long-range hunters and precision enthusiasts who want nothing less than elite-level performance.

Every Flint Legacy rifle begins with a high-quality, field-proven base package designed for immediate reliability and real-world hunting use:

• Chassis: MDT Field Stock – Lightweight polymer-over-aluminum construction with V-block bedding for enhanced rigidity, adjustable length of pull (13.5–14.5″ via spacers), 1.37″ cheek riser, M-LOK forend slots for accessories, AICS magazine compatibility, sling swivel studs, and support for barrels up to 1.250″ diameter (weight ≈ 3.1 lbs).
• Barrel: Shilen hand-lapped match-grade stainless steel – Stress-relieved, precision air-gauged bore with tight tolerances, recessed target crown, and meticulous hand lapping for exceptional smoothness, consistency, and reduced fouling.
• Magazine: MDT steel AICS-pattern – High-strength nitrided steel body with Cerakote finish, Double Stack to Single Feed geometry for compact height and flawless feeding in prone or standing positions.
• Trigger: TriggerTech Primary – Adjustable single-stage pull (1.5–4.0 lbs), Zero Creep/Frictionless Release Technology, CLKR adjustment system, curved or flat shoe options, 7075-T6 aluminum housing, and stainless internals for a crisp, repeatable break.
